Anamaria Marinca is a Romanian actress. She was awarded the British Academy Television Award of Best Actress in The Channel 4 Film Sex Traffic. The actress fluently speaks French, German and English. The father of her mother was an actor, and her mother was a violinist. In 2000, the Young Actor Gala Mangalia awarded her the Best Female Actor Award of 2000. She was chosen as the first European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in 2008. Alongside her impressive performance in her first film, she is recognized for her performance in the Romanian art-film 4 Months 3 weeks and 2 Days which won her several laurels including the European Film Award for Best Actress London Film Critics. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 zile (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days) produced by Cristian Mungiu. It was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other prizes (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). In addition, she appeared in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. She was also in 2008 as Yasim Anwar in the BBC Five-episode miniseries The Last Enemy. Marinca played the role in The Romanian drama Boogie as well as Oliver Hirschbiegel's highly acclaimed Five Minutes of Heaven. Later, she had a major performance in the 2014 film Fury where she played an German woman who was named Irma the aunt of Emma.
