Rauw Alejandro
Despacito by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed within less than six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music not only brought an interest to the genre, but also to Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four tracks in the year 2016. In 2017, during the height of Despacito's popularity the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see the number will increase to 41 tracks that fall into this category. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018), while Madonna teamed up with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. Some reggaeton artists lamented the trend towards popular music by 2020. However, a brand new group, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the evolution and development of reggaeton. He used elements from other styles and electronic music.
